# Backups

Backups are included by default, without you having to configure anything.

The why and what they’re for are in [Quota and backups](/docs-en/productos/file-storage/concepts/quota-and-backups.md); here is the exact policy.

### Retention policy

| Frequency  | Kept             |
| ---------- | ---------------- |
| Every hour | The last 5 hours |
| Daily      | 14 days          |
| Weekly     | 8 weeks          |

This combination gives you very recent points very close at hand (the last few hours) and, at the same time, room to roll back weeks if the problem is detected late.

### Restore

| Aspect          | Detail                                                          |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| When            | Whenever you need it                                            |
| What you choose | The point in time to roll back to, within the retention period  |
| What for        | Accidental deletions, file corruption, and ransomware scenarios |

> There's nothing to enable or schedule: the backup policy is built in by default. It's a strong point compared with consumer storage, where backups are often separate or nonexistent.
